I wanna show y'all a few pictures.

Season 1-3

Season 4

Season 5

Season 6-8

WOW

Season 1-3

Everyone had their own style and color scheme. This was the first time a shojo-type children's show did this, especially a magical girl one. I'm not mad about Enchantix being conventially beautiful because it's supposed to be.

Bloom: feminine girl-next-door; large eyes
Stella: bohemian chic; expressive eyes, tanned skin
Flora: soft flower girl; almond eyes, upturned nose, pointed chin
Tecna: cyberpunk nerd; large eyes, unique hair
Musa: hip-hop tomboy; almond eyes, pigtails
Aisha: feminine/tomboy combo sporty; skin/eyes contrast, large nose and lips, hair like waves

Then there was a change. Just a small one, but it stood out.

It's not that big of a change on the surface. She grew out her hair. Tomboys can have long hair. But if you were a Rai watcher, like I am, you know that her voice changed instantly. It seems that with the new voice, her personality changed, too. She became softer. Less emotional. Not as argumentative. But maybe she matured, or it was a phase. Snarky Musa came back in season five, after all. And Bloom's hair got longer, too, right? Although while she grew it out naturally, Musa used a spell. But maybe she just wanted a change and sudden results.

Okay, I'm overthinking it. Right? Let's move on.

Season Four

Okay, some of these girls just...don't look right. Stella, Flora, and Aisha look okay. Even Tecna. Her hair got a little longer, so what? It isn't as drastic as a change as Musa last season. It's Bloom and Musa that bother me.

Bloom seems more...girly. She was always one of the feminine Winx, but it seems pink has become her main color and her hair is straighter and less messy. Musa...see, this is what it seems like season three was leading up to. She's wearing pink, she's in heels. Her hair looks conveniently beautiful instead of uniquely in pigtails. She's pretty, but I don't like it.

Season Five

Look, I adore these outfits, but what the hell is Bloom wearing? The pink contrasts too bad with her hair. At least snarky Musa is back. I've missed her. Glad to see that Flora has a new hairstyle. But it's here five out of six of the girls get hair that's basically touching their calves. Even Tecna's hair is just past her neck. Bloom's hair is now completely straight with none in her face. Stella's lost her tan. The girls all have the same faces now, except Flora's upturned nose and Aisha's lips (I freaking love her lips they are gorgeous). They're all wearing pink or purple (even Aisha has a bit of purple).

Season Seven

I know Aisha's hair still looks wavy in the picture, but it's actually pretty straight. Most of their hair is pretty flat, too.

Remember when Bloom and Flora had that hime/curtain bangs kinda look? But especially Flora now (Bloom lost that look for awhile). Flora's looks...sad now. Limp. Depressed.

They're all so shiny now with the only differing features being ethnicity and hair/eye color. They all wear too much pink now. I'm not as bothered by the uniformity when it comes to transformations past Enchantix because not every fairy gets it, so it can't be personalized. And why are they all wearing uniforms? They've been graduated since Secret of the Lost Kingdom and student teachers since season four.

I can't say much about WOW because I've only started it, but it looks like these standards are carrying over. Especially the long hair with the same texture.

Conclusion

This was just a quick little thing I wanted to do while working on my next couple analysis. I found the season seven photo and got the idea to make this thirty-minute post. All I can say is it looks like the reboot is doing better in terms of the girls' fashion.

Keep winxing!
