Immediately what I think of is Heart on Fire from the first Nick special, The Fate of Bloom. It played the first time she earned her Magic Winx/Charmix, which, in this version, was after she thought Kiko had died to the Trix (way to take a page out of season four, Nick). I also find it ironic that in the first season, she could hardly defend herself and usually relied on the Winx to help her. But as the show progressed along with her confidence, she not only defended herself, but the Magic Dimension and saved Domino.

With the magical ray powers I will make

While I'm translating this with Google (look, I don't know Italian, judge me all you want), I noticed that Stella translated to star. In Secret of the Lost Kingdom, on her diploma, her name was listed as Stella Star. So...is her name just Star Star?

Notice how the lyrics say nothing about her moon powers. It wasn't Nick who started this whole Fairy of the Shinning Sun crap. It's as if Rainbow forgot half her character. It's a lot cooler when she has both powers, seeing her parents only represent one. It's as if their divorce tried to break away the sun and the moon from one another while Stella keeps the two together, like how she was able to bring her parents to a common understanding in season five's Make a Wish.

Come with me and I'll make you dance. Probably my favorite lyric for the most headstrong of the Winx. It combines both her soft side with her no-nonsense: she loves to dance, but mess with her and she'll make you dance.

It seems like Morphix really is unrivaled. She can bend it to her will for whatever situation she has to face.

I'm Flora, and perfumes will emanate
With magic potions everything will change

Our potions girl! I'm not really sure what to say except she has the softest beat of the introductions. Fitting for her shy personality.

And I'm Tecna, and I'll be technological
And the hidden mysteries of science I will explore

"And I'll be (techno)logical." This physically hurts to read after season two. Fuck you, Zenith.

What does science have to do with it, though? She's not really interested in science, but technology. Yes, you could say that's a field of science, but I don't think the lyric makes the most sense. I'll chalk it up to early 2000s stereotyping.

Not really a whole lot to unpack here. I find it interesting how arguably the most complex Winx has the simplest introduction.

Well, that's all the girls Rainbow gives a damn about (sorry, Mirta, Roxy, Daphne even though you should've stayed dead). I'm not really sure what to unpack in the next post, but honestly, I had a lot of fun doing this and kinda hope to make this blog a semi-regular thing.
